Tamilnadu Flood Relief
9th December 2015

Damien Foundation India Trust started its relief work for the leprosy affected people living in Leprosy Colonies at Kanchipuram & Tiruvallur districts which were the areas severely affected by Tamilnadu Floods.

DFIT Flood Relief team distributed people with packets consisting of provisions & dry rations - 5 kg rice, 1 kg each of dhal, edible oil, sugar and salt.Kg. Salt, to around 1000 leprosy affected persons. In addition, DFIT had also supplied 75 Mats and 350 Bed Sheets to the needy persons living in the colonies.

Relief work started from 9th December and still going on. All DFIT staff were involved in the relief work.


World TB Day 2015 - Seminar at MSSW, Chennai
24th March 2015

On the occasion of World TB Day Damien Foundation conducted a TB Awareness program themed 'Role of Social Workers in TB Control' at Madras School of Social Work, Chennai. Dr Santhosh, Medical Adviser, spoke on the symptoms and causes of TB, important measures / treatment on Tuberculosis. About 100 students participated in the program.


DOTS Training
10th March 2015

Direct Observation of Treatment (DOT) is extremely important for every TB affected to complete his/her treatment and get cure from Tuberculosis. DFIT Delhi project recently conducted a training programme for the DOT providers. Dr. Loreen Gujral, Medical Officer, TB, spoke on symptoms & types of TB, gave guidelines on how a DOT provider should build a rapport with the patient, and emphasized on how the DOT providers can motivate the family/community for a hassle free treatment. Around 30 DOTS providers took part in the training.


World Leprosy Day 2015
26th January 2015

Dr Santhosh & Mr Ellango Yesu, spoke LIVE on All India Radio on the occasion of World Leprosy Day. Leprosy is an infectious chronic disease that targets the nervous system, especially the nerves - in the hands/feet. They spoke on the importance of this day and how the disease is contracted and cured. The show ended with a note on how kind words have the power to heal a person affected by leprosy.
